This feels like one of those things that should always use a good signal booster, so here it is: fans of Michel Fiffe’s fantastic creator-owned and self-published book “Copra” should be pleased to find out that the 18th issue is now available for order. Focusing on Xenia, Fiffe describes it as “the magic issue, the losing your grip on reality which is inconvenient for everybody because of your godlike powers issue,” and man oh man am I excited to get my copy. Fiffe also notes that there will be a bit of a break until issue #19, so get your “Copra” in while you can.
But wait! There’s more! While I haven’t seen Fiffe mention it elsewhere on social media, you may also find it interesting to know that Fiffe’s previous work “Zegas” has now been reprinted in its entirety. Available in a new limited printing, “Zegas” is the book that debuted Copra Press and has been otherwise unavailable for those like me who hopped on the Fiffe bandwagon late after “Copra” started getting the most-deserved amount of hype ever. With all three issues re-printed and only 300 available, it’s an excellent day to be a fan of Fiffe’s work.
If you need some extra convincing, here’s a preview for “Copra” #18 and a look at what you’re getting with “Zegas”:
Like many sites, we have nothing but kind things to say about Fiffe’s “Copra.” A completely unassuming book at first that begins as a tribute to the Ostrander era of “Suicide Squad,” the book very quickly flips the switch to 11 and remains rather unrelenting throughout. With amazingly animated illustration and great characters, Fiffe made quite an impression on many fans and readers with his completely DIY work ethic. “Copra” gained a lot of notoriety for it, in fact, though also in part due to how quickly it would sell out and remain unavailable for those late to the party (I did in fact wait until my order had gone through before posting this, just in case), but as it continues on it remains one of comics’ best known secrets.
And while I’ve not read “Zegas,” everything I’ve read on “Copra” or Fiffe’s work in “All-New Ultimates” and “Captain Victory” leaves no doubt in mind that it’ll be just as great. Showing off an earlier side of Fiffe’s talent, it’ll be interesting to see how his work in “Zegas” built into “Copra” — something I will certainly report back on soon, whenever my package arrives.
So whether you’re a fan of Fiffe or new to his work, you can find everything for order right here at Fiffe’s Etsy shop. If you’ve not read “Copra” before, the first trade is available, and it’s just such a fantastic read; I’ve read it myself quite a few times now, occasionally just picking up the book and re-reading the first issue because it’s beyond a slam dunk of a first outing. While there’s no word on when the second trade will be available, issue #13 is self-described as a character-focused jumping-on point, so there’s no reason not to just throw down for the current six issue arc while you can and avoid the extended wait time.
