In an interview over at CBR today, Corey Lewis talked about the much anticipated third volume of his “Sharknife” series currently titled “Triceratango”. Lewis opened by explaining how “Triceratango” is going to have it’s own feel compared to previous volumes, titled “Stage First” and “Double Z”, in that while “Stage First” Lewis’ ‘retaliation to mostly action-free western comics’, “Triceratango” will feature three separate, but connected stories that make up the book.

We’ll see Ceasar and his pals in the wilds of their city, Coastal Vania. The action has spread out beyond the walls of the Guangdong Factory. We’ll see how their super heroic actions have affected their city, even if not in a positive way.

Then there’s a story introducing three brand-new characters on their own “Sharknife” adventure, unrelated to the main “Sharknife” heroes; it’s sub-titled “Speed Dive.”

And the final story in “TRICERTANGO” will explain literally what the Sharknife powers actually are.

It sounds like this will be the most ambitious “Sharknife” yet exploring the lore of the universe more and introducing all new elements to the series.

Lewis also talked about the future of “Sharknife” and how he feels future volumes might have a shift in format.

Also, this third book is the last of the “Stage Trilogy,” the beginning arc of “Sharknife,” setting the stage. I’ve got some solid plans for “Sharknife” beyond this initial book trilogy — I’m thinking a change in format is due. “Sharknife” has had his time in small format, black and white books. I love manga-style, but going forward, “Sharknife” will get bigger and brighter.

So we still have plenty of “patented Sharknife Face Melting Action” to look forward to in the future as well as “Sharknife: Triceratango” from Oni Press in hopefully the near future.

Remember to head over to CBR for the full interview with Lewis where he talks more about the origins of “Sharknife” for him and his creative process.
