Via Forbes and The Beat, writer Curt Pires will helm three new comiXology Originals, starting with season two of “Youth” this month. “Youth” will be followed by a pair of detective series, “Lost Falls” and “Memoria,” also exclusive to the digital comics platform.
Set six months after the first miniseries, “Youth Season Two” will introduce a new cast of super powered teens, who will join Frank and River, and attempt to make sense of their new abilities. “Some of the kids are missing. Some of the kids are dead,” the official synopsis reads. “Some of the kids are trying to do better. One thing is for certain: they’re not the only ones with powers anymore.” The entire “Youth” creative team returns for “Season Two,” with Alex Diotto taking art duties, alongside colorist Dee Cunniffe and letterer Micah Myers. “Season Two” #1 is set for digital release on April 6, the same day Dark Horse is set to release the physical trade of “Season One” to bookstores.
Pires and “Wyrd” artist Antonio Fuso will team up again for “Lost Falls.” Colorist Lee Loughridge and “Youth” letter Micah Myers will join the pair for what the official synopsis describes as “Twin Peaks meets Lovecraft Country.” The story follows amnesiac detective Daniel Pynchon as he struggles to piece together the mystery of how he arrives in the titular town of Lost Falls.
Pires’s second detective series, “Memoria” (illustrated by Sunando C.), will see a pair of struggling detectives on the trail of a deadly serial killer as they battle illness and addiction. While “Youth Season Two” is set to hit shelves in less than a week, comiXology list both “Lost Falls” and “Memoria” as available on December 28, 2022. Pires calls these three series a “challenge” to himself and his collaborators to make “comics that rival the greatest comics published anywhere by anyone in any format.”
“These books represent what I believe to be the future of comics,” Pires says of the books. “Bold innovative genre storytelling that’s representative of our diverse and expansive modern world. I hope you’ll come along for the ride.”
