Dark Horse Comics have announced “Cyberpunk 2077: Trauma Team,” a new four-issue series from writer Cullen Bunn, artist Miguel Valderrama, and colorist Jason Wordie, based on the upcoming video game by CD Projekt Red.

Set in the dystopian Night City, the comic book follows Nadia, an assistant EMT for Trauma Team International, and the sole survivor of a failed rescue mission-turned-shootout. After agreeing to another extraction mission, she “and her new team find themselves in an even more dangerous and life-threatening situation.”

“Trauma Team” continues the partnership between CD Projekt Red and Dark Horse, who published several comics based on the developer’s Witcher games, which were themselves inspired by author Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels and short story series. Cyberpunk 2077 is similarly an adaptation of the tabletop role-playing game series Cyberpunk, created by Mike Pondsmith in 1988, and this comic book marks the first for the franchise as a whole.

As well as “Trauma Team,” Dark Horse have announced The World of Cyberpunk 2077, a hardcover art book by Marcin Batylda that will outline “the history of the neon-tinted districts of Night City,” plus the game’s “cybernetics, weapons, characters and more.” The 192-page book will be released July 29, 2020 in a regular edition for $39.99, and a deluxe slipcase version with tattoos, postcards and more for $99.99.

“Cyberpunk 2077: Trauma Team” #1 will be released on September 9. The game itself, starring Keanu Reeves, is currently set for release on Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on November 19, 2020.
