Dan DiDio Announces Digital Download Cards In Comics

Now that’s what I’m talking about! According to a report from Bleeding Cool (or rather, a reader of Bleeding Cool) coming out of the Baltimore Comic Con, “Dan DiDio is planning to see print and digital crosspromotions, with download codes for the digital copy printed inside the print copy of various comics and collections.”

This is an incredibly smart move, and one that we at the MC office have mentioned in speculation before. Vinyl records do it, and it’s a great way for fans who want to buy a hard copy get a digital copy (considering you can’t burn vinyl records to iTunes – easily). Putting in little download cards for your comics is a great way to promote digital comics and make people more interested in the idea. It’s something that should have been done already, if you ask me.

Either way, the sooner this gets rolled out the better. It’s definitely a move I support as a reader who insists on buying everything I love in print. If they want me to get into digital, an incentive like this helps.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
