Following in the steps of “William Gibson’s Alien 3” from 2018 as well as 2013’s “The Star Wars,” “Alien: The Original Screenplay” will adapt the first draft of 1979’s Alien by Dan O’Bannon. Cristiano Seixas and Guilherme Balbi will be adapting the screenplay as a five-issue miniseries. Differences between O’Bannon’s script and the final filmed version by Walter Hill and David Giler include the Nostromo being called the Snark, and LV-426 being a yellow desert planet. A three-page preview is available via The Hollywood Reporter. “Alien: The Original Screenplay” #1 releases April 22.

“Dead Dogs Bite” is a small-town mystery thriller, written and illustrated by Tyler Boss (“Four Kids Walk Into A Bank”). The four-issue miniseries follows Joe as she investigates the disappearance of her best friend Cormac Guffin. After realizing that the police have no interest in pursuing justice, Joe goes out on her own, and faces incomprehensible horror along the way. “‘Dead Dog’s Bite’ is something I’ve been quietly working on for the past four years and can’t wait for people to read it,” said Boss. “I hope readers find themselves making their own crazy walls to try and solve the mystery before the story is over.” This will be Boss’s first collaboration with Dark Horse. “I’m really excited to have it be published by a company with such a scary horse for a logo,” he said. “Seriously, name a publisher with a scarier horse who represents them.” More information will be released in Dark Horse’s April solicits.

Finally, Dark Horse and Berger Books are releasing the second volume of “Everything” by Christopher Cantwell and I.N.J. Culbard. The series looks at the social and economic upheaval in the small town of Holland, Michigan following the arrival of the superstore, Everything. “We’re basically picking up right where we left off,” said Cantwell. “Lori is still working at Everything. Steve the manager is there. Marshall Gooder has decided to stay in Holland following the incident with Shirley. And Shirley is still around, along with her modified Mister Bear. And Rick’s been captured, and Elwood was about to kill Gooder.”

Cantwell told The Beat, “Somebody should fucking buy the goddamn book. INJ’s art is just perfect for this story. The sci-fi goes off the charts in this volume. But it’s still this moody freaky mystery story about capitalism and how it fucks with everyone’s mind and soul. Just read it already!” In this second chapter set two weeks after the first, readers can expect intrigue, brainwashing and a string of mysterious deaths that leave the whole town on the cusp of recession. “Everything Volume 2” #1 goes on sale on April 8.
