Dark Horse Teases Return of Firefly to Comics [Updated]

Listen up, Browncoats, because today is your lucky day.

Teased on their website, Dark Horse is now asking fans “Where’s Serenity?” (albeit with a hashtag), with that and the floating leaf clearly linking towards the much loved cancelled series Firefly. Well, that and the post flat out mentioning the show and its characters, but hey, symbolism!

Like other former television projects birthed from the mind of Joss Whedon like Dollhouse or Buffy, Firefly has seen renewed life in the form of comics from Dark Horse. Unlike Buffy, though, it is always via limited engagements — albeit highly entertaining ones, mind you. Fans have clamored for it (including us) but nothing has come outside of the graphic novel and two minis. With the success of the “Buffy” comics apparent and Season 9 coming to a close, as well as the added clout given to the Whedon name for recent blockbuster films like Much Ado About Nothing, could the return of the Serenity crew to comics be imminent? We’d certainly hope so.

Dark Horse teases a bigger announcement over the next month or so, so until then we’ll be watching the skies.

Update: And if it wasn’t clear enough that Firefly is definitely coming back to comics, Dark Horse just sent this over:

I’m so excited. I just can’t hide it.
