Did you get to pick up Archaia’s incredible Free Comic Book Day offering? I hope you did, because, in this humble comic nerd’s opinion, it was the best FCBD book ever. Not just in the fact that it was a hardcover with high production values (including a wonderful inscription page on the front inside cover), but because it was filled to the brim with top notch new short stories from books like “Rust” from Royden Lepp, “Return of the Dapper Men” by Jim McCann and Janet K. Lee and “Cow Boy” from Nate Cosby and Chris Eliopoulos.

On top of that, there was another splendid “Mouse Guard” tale from writer/artist David Petersen, this one titled “The Tale of Baldwin the Brave.” It was a delightful little story, but in case you missed it, Petersen has a special offering on his site. He recorded narration to the story with music from Jon Sayles that goes with a video featuring the story itself, and it is delightful to say the least. Given Petersen’s qualities as a visual/written storyteller, it only makes sense that he’s great at vocal storytelling as well.
