DC Comics have announced several titles launching next year, as part of the post-“Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths” and ‘Lazarus Planet’ event ‘Dawn of DC.’ Described as a yearlong initiative, ‘Dawn of DC’ will see the launch of new comics for Doom Patrol, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, Cyborg, Shazam, and more over the course of 2023. The newly announced titles are:

– “Unstoppable Doom Patrol,” by writer Dennis Culver (“Justice League Incarnate”) and artist Chris Burnham (“Batman Incorporated”), which is described as spinning directly out of ‘Lazarus Planet.’ It will begin in March.

– “Green Lantern: Hal Jordan,” by Mariko Tamaki (“Detective Comics”) and an unannounced artist, which sees Hal return to Earth and “his blockbuster superhero action storytelling roots.” It will begin in April.

– “Green Lantern: John Stewart,” by Phillip Kennedy Johnson (“Action Comics”) and an unannounced artist. Launching later in 2023, it will see John go “back to basics as the military-trained, gritty, but heroic Green Lantern.”

– “Green Arrow,” by Joshua Williamson (“Dark Crisis”) and Sean Izaakse (“Thunderbolts”). The synopsis reveals Oliver Queen will go missing after “Dark Crisis,” and follow his family’s search for him, despite “dangerous forces [who are] just as determined to keep them apart at any cost.” It will launch in April.

– “Batman: The Brave and the Bold,” a relaunch of the classic team-up title, featuring stories by Tom King, Mitch Gerads, Guillem March, Gabriel Hardman, Dan Mora, Rob Williams, and more. It begins in May.

– “Cyborg,” a new solo title for Victor Stone launching in May, from a creative team who’ll be announced at a later time. The synopsis reveals after the events of “Dark Crisis,” Victor “might just hold the secret to Earth’s future!”

– “Shazam!,” which’ll reteam the “Batman/Superman: World’s Finest” creative team of Mark Waid and Dan Mora. Billy Batson will be back as the Champion of Shazam, “hanging out at the Rock of Eternity, his secret clubhouse that can travel through space and time, as well as punching dinosaurs in the face, seeing how long he can hold his breath on the moon, and getting into wild and fun adventures with his tiger, Tawky Tawny.” It will start in June.

– “The Penguin” (working title), by Tom King and artist Stefano Gaudiano (inker of “The Walking Dead”). The comic will see a retired Oswald Cobblepot, now living in Metropolis, being “forced back into organized crime by the U.S. government.” It will begin in June, ahead of the release of the HBO Max series starring Colin Farrell.

– “Steelworks,” a comic starring John Henry Irons and his niece Natasha, who’ll take on the mantle of Steel while he concentrates on Metropolis’s future. The comic, which debuts in June, will coincide with the 30th anniversary of John Henry’s first appearance in 1993’s “The Adventures of Superman” #500.

Additionally, DC announced Kenny Porter and Jahnoy Lindsay’s 2022 DC Round Robin winner “Superboy: The Man of Tomorrow” will start in April, shortly after the previously announced revamp of the Superman Family comics. DC stated there will be over 20 ‘Dawn of DC’ titles in total, and that the rest will be announced later. The teaser art indicates these will include a new “Hawkman” or “Hawkgirl” comic, a Batman-centric event, and a major storyline revolving around Brainiac, whose tentacles are shown slithering across the image.
