Announced at io9 this morning, it looks like the next entry into Felicia Day’s Guild one-shots will star the lovable rascal Fawkes, played on the series by Wil Wheaton, who will also co-write the issue. Joining Day and Fawkes in the art department is everyone’s favorite British pop star Jamie McKelvie, who you might remember from such comics as Phonogram and Suburban Glamour. (Oh, and Generation Hope, Secret Avengers, Siege: Loki and the upcoming X-Men: Season 1.)
For those who don’t watch the online series (and to that we ask — why?), Wil Wheaton plays Day’s rival and love interest, a devious guild leader in a kilt who answers to no one but himself. This will mark the first time Fawkes’ avatar has ever been seen, which Wheaton got to design himself, and the story will focus on the Axis of Anarchy much more than we’ve ever seen before. The issue takes place after the season 4 finale, and will deal with Fawkes’ side of the Codex/Fawkes split, and will directly lead into the upcoming fifth season of The Guild.
The issue is slated to hit stores on May 23rd, and a Season 0 trade of The Guild is set for August 4th, collecting the previous one-shots starring members of the Knights of Good (the Tink issue is a particular stand-out) and featuring art by great talents like Darick Robertson, Becky Cloonan and Kristian Donaldson.
