I’d say after yesterdays’ announcement of books, everyone is pretty much waiting for what DC has up their sleeve next. Love it or hate it, DC is getting people talking – and that’s always a good thing for comics.

So what do we have with the latest set of books? All of these are Green Lantern titles, and they are:

  • Green Lantern #1, written by Geoff Johns and illustrated by Doug Mahnke and Christian Alamy
  • Green Lantern Corps #1, written by Peter Tomasi and illustrated by Fernando Pasarin and Scott Hanna
  • Green Lantern: The New Guardians #1, written by Tony Bedard and illustarted by Tyler Kirkham and Batt
  • Red Lanterns #1, written by Peter Milligan and illustrated by Ed Benes and Rob Hunter

So Hal is still “the” Green Lantern under Johns’ pen, Tomasi is back to GLC and writing Guy Gardener and John Stewart playing galaxy police, and Bedard moves over to write the New Guardians with Kyle Rayner and an assorted cast of Rainbow Raiders (har har). Looks like every Earth Green Lantern gets to keep being Green Lantern, but only Hal gets to play with the other superheroes. Meanwhile, the long discussed Red Lantern title from Milligan is finally coming out, which promises blood galore. Possibly in the form of vomit.

So there you have it. I suppose this just about clears up what happens at the end of The War of the Green Lanterns, now doesn’t it?

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
