The Source has announced today that there will be a second weekly ongoing series coming from DC in addition to the bi-weekly Brightest Day. Inspired by the success of 52, DC has announced a book that will take place in the universe of the upcoming DCU Online, entitled DC: Legacies.

History was made in the DCU a few years back with the launch of 52, a weekly, year-long series filling in the gap of time between INFINITE CRISIS and ONE YEAR LATER. Since then, the weekly series has been a staple for the DCU. So what could we possibly do to keep the things fresh and exciting?

How about a weekly series set in the world of DC UNIVERSE ONLINE, SONY ONLINE ENTERTAINMENT’S upcoming Massive Multiplayer Online Action Game? Well, there you have it.

DC UNIVERSE: LEGENDS will run weekly and exist in the same world as the game. Can there be a more perfect companion? Probably not.

Not entirely jazzed about it, but it’s interesting. I’ll be honest, I plan on picking up a copy of DCU Online. I did an interview with one of the designers when I went to E3, and I did an article on what I knew and what I’d seen. The game itself will be partially written by Geoff Johns and Marv Wolfman, so I can only imagine who will write the book. I guess as we know more, we’ll present more, but right now we don’t know much. It’s an interesting concept, but I personally can’t imagine the execution being all to entertaining for myself.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
