Via Twitter, writer Brandon Thomas has announced he is writing “Aquaman/Green Arrow: Deep Target,” a seven-issue series starring Arthur Curry (Aquaman) and Oliver Queen (Green Arrow). No plot details were given for the comic, which starts in October, but it will be created with artist Ronan Cliquet (“Green Lanterns”), and colorist Ulises Arreola (“The Joker Presents: A Puzzlebox”).

The series coincides with the 80th anniversary of both characters, neither of whom currently have an ongoing solo series, but are both appearing together in Brian Michael Bendis’s monthly “Justice League” title. Mort Weisinger created Green Arrow and Aquaman respectively with artists George Papp and Paul Norris, and both characters first appeared in “More Fun Comics” #73 (cover dated November 1941).

Brandon Thomas is no stranger to either superhero’s corners of the DC Universe, having contributed to last month’s “Green Arrow 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular,” and August’s “Aquaman 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular.” He also penned “Aquaman: The Becoming,” a five-issue series starring the new Aquaman (Jackson Hyde), that will continue the story of his “Aquaman 80th Anniversary” segment in September.

“Aquaman/Green Arrow: Deep Target” #1 will be released in October with cover art by Marco Santucci, and InHyuk Lee. Expect more details in the next issue of DC’s previews magazine, DC Connect #15, due out July 28.
