Those of you who followed Greg Rucka’s run on Detective Comics know that when he teamed up with JH Williams III, it tore roof’s down. Everyone was talking about how amazing it was and is, even after it ended. Now Greg Rucka has left DC, and as the creator of Batwoman many people were worried that it wouldn’t be continued.

Thankfully, JH Williams III stepped up to the plate for both writing and art detail (with co-writer W. Haden Blackman), and a new Batwoman series was born. DC revealed that the book will start in Batwoman #0 this November, which acts as a primer for the series. The overall series will feature alternating art duties between Williams and Amy Reeder (whose variant to issue 0 can be seen here). The book will featuring alternating art between Williams and Reeder on a page by page basis, the first arc will be Williams alone, and the second will be Reeder.

Williams had this to say about the zero issue:

The #0 was very rewarding to write because it re-introducesBatwoman through the eyes of Batman. It gave us a chance to compare and contrast Batwoman with a character everyone knows very well – and I think that it’s all the ways she is different from Batman that make her a really compelling and honest character.

Keep your eyes open for the issue in November and be sure to look for it. I can almost guarantee it’ll make a book of the week it’s release date.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
