DC hasn’t dropped their full solicits for April 2011 yet, but they have given us some information about the upcoming anniversary issue of Action Comics. Action Comics will be the longest running superhero comic title (not that it already isn’t), and will be the first to hit 900 after just about 73 years worth of content. That’s damn impressive, and considering Action Comics gave us the paragon of virtue and Superhero that all other heroes would eventually be compared against, it’s a milestone among milestones.
So here are the six bits of information you need to know, straight from The Source (pun intended):
1. ACTION COMICS 900 continues the epic Reign of Doomsday storyline.
2. There’s a contribution by famed SUPERMAN THE MOVIE director, Richard Donner;
3. A story by the screenwriter of THE DARK KNIGHT, David Goyer;
4. A story by the co-creator of LOST, Damon Lindelof;
5. In addition to covers by David Finch and Alex Ross, there will be a variant cover by Adam Hughes.
6. In order to squeeze in all these amazing contributions, ACTION COMICS will clock in at a whopping 96 pages.
Richard Donner? Damon Lindelof? David Goyer? YES. While I can say at least I wasn’t planning to follow the Doomsday storyline, it looks like it’s quite inevitable now, because with Cornell bringing his storyline to an end and a promised showdown between a returned Superman and Lex Luthor, it’s kind of an issue that only a silly person would miss! Plus: Richard Donner, Damon Lindelof, and David Goyer! Superman The Movie, The Dark Knight, and LOST! How can anyone not be excited about that?
