DC Comics have announced ‘The New Golden Age,’ a new line of titles written by Geoff Johns which, as its name suggests, will revolve around the Golden Age heroes of the Justice Society of America. The new comics will begin with “The New Golden Age” one-shot, and consist of an ongoing “Justice Society of America” series featuring art by Mikel Janin, and the six-issue miniseries “Stargirl: The Lost Children,” penciled by Todd Nauck.

“The New Golden Age,” releasing on November 8, will feature art by Steve Lieber, Jerry Ordway, and Diego Olortegui, and bridge the gap between prior JSA-related stories like “Doomsday Clock” and “Flashpoint Beyond,” and the JSA’s return in “Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths.” “How are Mime and Marionette connected to this?,” asks the synopsis. “Why are Rip Hunter and the Time Masters the most unlikable heroes in the DC Universe? And who or what is… Nostalgia? Don’t miss the start of the strangest mystery to have ever plagued the DC Universe.”

“Stargirl: The Lost Children” will see Courtney Whitmore and Emiko Queen (Red Arrow) “discover a tragic teenage hero from the past has gone missing.” When “they set out to find him,” they “discover he’s not the first teenage hero of the Golden Age to have vanished without a trace. But where have they gone? Who are they? And what does the Childminder want with them?” The series will begin on November 15.

The new “Justice Society” title will see the group contend with their history being disrupted again, after a long-lost member “crashes into our era with a grave warning… but it’s too late. A mysterious and malevolent enemy has invaded the entire history of the JSA, and an all-new team must come together to defeat it. But what deadly secret does this messenger from beyond keep? Where are they from? And why is all of this happening now? Only the Time Masters know.” Characters like Jay Garrick (Flash) and Alan Scott (Green Lantern) will return to the team, alongside ones who’ve been missing-in-action in the comics for some time, namely Beth Chapel (Doctor Midnight) and Yolanda Montez (Wildcat). Issue #1 goes on sale November 22.

In the press release, Johns teases more ‘New Golden Age’ titles to come, stating “Our goal is to delve into the neglected corners of DC with this new group of titles, from the JSA to the Legion [of Super-Heroes], and all those who operate between. It’s the story of where superheroes came from, where they’re going and why they’re always needed.” Until then, you can check out all the covers at DC.com, and watch the third season premiere of the Stargirl TV series (which Johns continues to oversee) on the CW on August 31, as well as the JSA’s big screen debut in Black Adam on October 21.
