In the lead-up to DC Comics’ March solicitations, the publisher has revealed several new titles at Brazil’s CCXP (Comic Con Experience), all of which carry over the creative teams from their two-month linewide ‘Future State’ event.

“Swamp Thing” is getting his first ongoing series in over five years thanks to writer Ram V (“Catwoman,” “Blue in Green”) and artist Mike Perkins (“Captain America, “The Stand”), the creators behind “Future State: Swamp Thing,” and the two bookend stories in the October “Legend of the Swamp Thing Halloween Spectacular” anthology.

Ram V will also continue to write “Justice League Dark,” which will be illustrated by Xermanico (“Injustice: Gods Among Us”). Ram V was writing the series before this month’s ‘Endless Winter’ crossover event, and also penned a Justice League Dark story for “Future State: Justice League.”

The “Future State: Teen Titans” team of Tim Sheridan (Superman: Man of Tomorrow) and Rafa Sandoval (“Ultimate Comics: Hawkeye,” “Catwoman”) will return with “Teen Titans Academy,” which will tell the story of a school set up by veteran Teen Titans like Nightwing and Starfire, as they train a new generation of heroes. The academy is especially notable seeing as Sheridan and Sandoval’s ‘Future State’ series deals with the fallout of its destruction by bitter students its founders turned away. This series will continue to feature Red X, an alias for Robin used in the animated Teen Titans series before becoming his own character, following his comics debut in ‘Future State.’

In addition to Grant Morrison and Liam Sharp’s continuing “Green Lantern: Season Two,” DC announced a “Green Lantern” ongoing series by Geoffrey Thorne (“Mosaic,” “King in Black: Black Panther”) and Tom Raney (“Annihilation Conquest,” “Stormwatch”), who are set to collaborate on the ‘Last Lantern’ stories in the “Future State: Green Lantern” anthology. No further story details were given.

The Suicide Squad will also be returning in March with a team led by Peacemaker, a character who is played by John Cena in James Gunn’s upcoming The Suicide Squad, as well as a HBO Max limited series. “Suicide Squad” by Robbie Thompson (“Spider-Man/Deadpool,” “Silk”) and Eduardo Pansica (“Teen Titans,” “Batwing”) looks to pit the team against the Court of Owls, and carries on from Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo’s acclaimed 11-issue run on the title. The pair collaborated on “Future State: Suicide Squad” in the interim.

Harley Quinn will be returning for a new ongoing series under the guidance of writer Stephanie Phillips (“Red Atlantis,” “Taarna”) and artist Riley Rossmo (“Martian Manhunter”). Phillips is set to collaborate with Simone Di Meo (“We Only Find Them When They’re Dead,” “Champions”) on “Future State: Harley Quinn” over the next two months.

Gene Luen Yang, the writer of the “Future State: Batman/Superman” series, will continue with the ongoing “Batman/Superman” series when it returns in March with issue #16; the book will be illustrated by Ivan Reis. Meanwhile, “Future State: Dark Detective” writer Mariko Tamaki and artist Dan Mora will take over “Detective Comics” with issue #1034; Tamaki will succeed Peter J. Tomasi, who had been writing the title since issue #994 in December 2018.

It was also revealed the “Future State: Immortal Wonder Woman” writing team of Becky Cloonan and Michael W. Conrad will take over the main series with “Wonder Woman” #770. The new run, illustrated by interior and cover artist Travis Moore, was described by Cloonan as action-packed, but also as allowing Diana to “have some fun.”

The new titles join Joelle Jones’s (“Catwoman,” “Supergirl: Being Super”) “Wonder Girl” comic, which was announced as a continuation of her “Future State: Wonder Woman” series. That series was announced in tandem with the reveal of a Wonder Girl TV series entering development at the CW.

More information on all these ongoing titles will likely be provided in DC’s upcoming March 2021 solicitations.
