Last year, DC launched their “We Can Be Heroes” campaign, an initiative to raise money for a charity to stop the hunger crisis in Africa. Today, DC brings that campaign to a larger audience – Indiegogo.

Initially you would buy certain merchandise, with proceeds going to the benefit. Now instead, you have the option to choose from several items at various tiers that DC is offering, ranging from a signed copy of “Batman and Robin” #18 (the silent issue) all the way up to Gary Frank drawing you into Batman: Earth One v2.

All the funds raised from the campaign will go to the following organizations:

  • Save the Children—Tirelessly committed to improving the lives of children and families whose lives have been changed by the hunger crisis.
  • International Rescue Committee—Relentlessly focused on protecting the most vulnerable and helping them rebuild for the future.
  • Mercy Corps—Unfailingly dedicated to making life more livable in the world’s toughest places.

It’s a good cause with some interesting perks if you’re a DC fan, and any opportunity to donate to charity is a great one, so give it a go.

Or just give to charity anyway. Because donating to charity is awesome regardless of what incentives you may get. (May I suggest getting Snoball for your FourSquare app, should you be a frequent FourSquare user?)

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
