We knew that the Big Bad of the first Justice League arc by Geoff Johns and Jim Lee was Darkseid. It was announced on the Source a while ago, it was revealed in the first issue by name only, and today on the Source blog, they revealed the Big Bad’s new Jim Lee design in all his awesome glory.

His costume is considerably more noisy than his original design, which was much more sleek. This keeps things in line with the DCnU that additional logos and lines all over the place qualify as what the modern audience wants to see, but all snark aside it’s nice to see Darkseid coming back at all. What this means for the rest of the New Gods is, as always, up in the air, but as with all things DCnU: baby steps.

Either way, let us know what you think of the new Darkseid design. Prefer the original? Like the weird upside down omegas? Does anti-Life justify your hate? Are you upset because the background of the image doesn’t include a dumpster behind a Baby Gap? Leave a comment below!

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
