From 2001 to 2002, longtime Marvel Comics writer/editor Stan Lee created — along with co-writer Michael Uslan and several artists — ‘Just Imagine…,’ a line of DC comics that answered the question: what if Lee had created his rival’s most beloved superheroes? To mark what would’ve been Lee’s 100th birthday on December 28, DC will publish “Tales from Earth-6: A Celebration of Stan Lee,” a 96-page Prestige format one-shot bringing back Lee’s takes on Batman, Superman and friends, in ten new stories written by Uslan, and many more.

In addition to Uslan, the special’s stories will be written by Mark Waid, Jerry Ordway, Kenny Porter, Stephanie Williams, Michael W. Conrad & Becky Cloonan, Collin Kelly & Jackson Lanzing, Meghan Fitzmartin, Steve Orlando, and Zac Thompson, while the artists will include Ordway, Lee Weeks, Kevin Maguire, Karl Mostert, Juan Ferreyra, Anthony Marques, Pablo M. Collar, Belén Ortega, Max Dunbar, and Hayden Sherman. Jim Cheung provided the main cover art, while the following illustrated the variant covers, each spotlighting a different character:
– Steve Beach: Batman/Wayne Williams
– Ariel Colon: Superman/Salden
– Jorge Corona: Aquaman/Ramon Raymond
– Clayton Henry: Wonder Woman/Maria Mendoza
– Kyle Hotz: Shazam/Robert Rogers
– Jason Howard: Green Lantern/Len Lewis
– Kelley Jones: Sandman/Larry Wilton
– Dan Panosian: Catwoman/Joanie Jordan
– Riley Rossmo: The Justice League
– Christian Ward: The Flash/Mary Maxwell
Belén Ortega will also provide a variant for an unconfirmed character, as will Cully Hamner, whose variant will be available in a 1-in-25 ratio quantity. You can check out the revealed covers at DC.com.
“Tales from Earth-6” will be released the day before the centenary of Stanley “Stan Lee” Martin Lieber’s birth, on Tuesday, December 27.
