DC Teases The End Of Brightest Day

DC posted this image on the Source Blog yesterday, teasing that “The End Is Near.” Of what? Brightest Day assumedly, but it’s also interesting to look at the picture as it appears Deadman is stopped over something that has since faded. The ring on his finger also looks to be somewhat melting. Could the White Lantern simply be leaving the DCU? The Black Lanterns certainly “left,” it’s quite possible that the White Lantern isn’t needed past Brightest Day. And as user “ryaztek” muses on the Source blog, “…I am guessing the last page to Brightest Day #18 out next week!” Considering the image is titled “bday_18_22_600-cmyk-copy”, I’d guess he’s right.

DC has a big event coming up, and they haven’t been necessarily quiet about it’s existence. With FCBD featuring a mysterious DC event teaser/tie-in, it’s quite possible that… well, whatever this is will feature into it – and considering that the Anti-Monitor is supposed to be a part of Brightest Day and he still hasn’t really shown up since Deadman tried to battle him earlier in the series, I’d guess that he and Nekron just might have a team-up against the DCU. But anything’s possible at this point.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
