We’ve been wondering what DC has in store for Flashpoint for quite some time now, as very little has been said about the story since the launch of the first issue of the Flash. However, today at the Source, DC promises that there will be several teasers that give you an idea of what goes into Flashpoint with “little hints” and images.
So, since we love you at MC, we will be creating this nice one post that we will update throughout the day with all the images that DC drops. Keep your eyes open as you’re sure to see this post more than once throughout the day, as the updates are promised every two hours, and all come direct from Geoff Johns.
Update #1: “The spaceship never crashed.” This, along with a post title reading “Whatever happened to the World’s Greatest Super Heroes?” gives the obvious first clue of Flashpoint. Something happened in the time stream that has altered history (first hinted at in Flash #6, to be fair, with the change to Wonder Woman), and due to this Superman never came to the planet.
Fellow staff writer Josh Mocle has also pointed out this could possibly mean Green Lantern. Hmm.
Update #2: “He spends his days running Wayne Casinos.” Gee, no clue who this could possibly mean…
Update #3: “They experimented on him in a lab for years.” I’m going to go ahead and throw a guess that this refers to Martian Manhunter. One thing is for certain – whatever is happening with Flashpoint, it certainly sucks for the general heroes of the DCU.
Update #4: “Where is his ring?” I think this sort of proves that the earlier thing about the spaceship was Superman, because there is only one (or four, kind of) major DC hero that sits at the JLA table that wears a ring that isn’t named The Flash.
This was also the first Flashpoint image not to have the title “flashpoint(consecutive number).jpeg.” Instead, this file is called “ajprt23skidoo.jpeg.” Probably doesn’t have anything to do with anything, but humorously worth noting regardless.
Update #5: “Their marriage was arranged to prevent war.” I’m going to guess this is in reference to Aquaman, considering that his whole story in Brightest Day involves the “Aquawar”, and Geoff Johns loves writing Mera.
Update #6: To close off the entire teasing event, DC posted the original Flashpoint teaser online. It does seem a tad bit interesting to look at now with the new information. There’s a big door with an S on it, but the first teaser assumedly alluded to Superman never landing. Also, if Bruce Wayne spends all his time just running casinos, does he still become Batman – just evil? One Can’t also help but noticing that there was no Wonder Woman teaser, yet Wonder Woman appears on the Flashpoint image in a ceremonial war outfit completely different to her modern “already changed due to wacky time confusion stuff” costume.
DC promises more information about all the information given to us today tomorrow, so stay tuned for a Friday full of Flash fun!
