DC To Get Serious With Characters (One-Shots Galore!)

DC is LOVIN’ these one-shots like woah! I mean, the Road Home isn’t even done yet, but they’re already prepping their next feat: a series of one-shots focusing on characters who may or may not need the focus.

Amongst the group, there will be one-shots for: Congorilla/Starman one-shot by James Robinson, Shazam by Eric Wallace, Steel by Steve Lyons, and Wonder Girl by JT Krul. Most of these make sense, because Congorilla/Starman branches out of JLA, Shazam from Titans, and Wonder Girl from Teen Titans… but Steel? Hmm. Could this be the hint of things to come from the DCU? Just what do they have up their sleeves this time?

On top of that, characters like Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, and the Flash will all get unknown changes to their books, although none of the changes are known. It could just be a “Heroic Pose Cover” initiative, for all we know.

The thing about the announcement is that it marks that all of these characters are “key players”… but key players in what? Shazam hasn’t been seen since Cry for Justice, and I don’t remember when the last time we saw Steel in a big role was. Could this have anything to do with Flashpoint? Or perhaps the next big DCU event aside from that?

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
