One key difference between Marvel and DC’s approach to their live action adaptations how the television and film properties interact. Aside from the Fox X-Men/Fantastic Four films, which are not handled in house, all of Marvel’s film and television properties are part of one distinct shared universe, which can explain why folks like Peggy Carter and Nick Fury can pop up both on television and in theaters.
DC, on the other hand, has decided to keep their films and TV shows isolated, not crossing over from the silver to the small screen, or vice versa. Next month, Grant Gustin is bringing Barry Allen to Supergirl, further connecting DC’s television shows, which makes the lack of film tie-ins even more noticeable.
So, which approach do you prefer? Is it best to let each property thrive in the medium selected for it, or does the idea of making the films and shows more like the comics – in terms of crossover potential – more appeal to you? Take our poll, and expand those thoughts in the comments!
