DC Comics have announced they will celebrate the 30th anniversary of publisher/chief creative officer Jim Lee’s WildStorm imprint, with a 30th anniversary special, a new ongoing “WildC.A.T.s” series, and the miniseries “Waller vs Wildstorm.” The event will be branded under the name ‘DC ’90s Rewind,’ which will also include 15 ’90s-themed variant covers, and the release of “Batman/Spawn: The Classic Collection.”

– The new “WildC.A.T.s” series will be written by Matthew Rosenberg, with art by Stephen Segovia, and reimagine the group — including Cole “Grifter” Cash — as being gathered together by the HALO Corporation, “who are going to make the world a better place… no matter who they have to kill!” The first two issues, respectively releasing on November 8, and December 6, will see the ‘Cats being tasked with collecting an elite group of scientists, all while contending with the true plans of their mysterious leader Void, and coming into conflict with the Court of Owls.

– “Waller vs. WildStorm,” which will be four issues, will be written by national security journalist Spencer Ackerman (in his comics debut) with Evan Narcisse, and feature art by Eric Battle. Set during the ’80s, it will star a young Amanda Waller, who has begun drawing up plans to use metahumans to end the Cold War — “and she’s willing to cut straight through Stormwatch’s Jackson King — and investigative journalist Lois Lane — to make them a reality.” The series also features Deathstroke, and will begin on November 15. Each issue will be 32 pages, but will be released in the Prestige Plus format, therefore retailing for $5.99 per copy.

– The “WildStorm 30th Anniversary Special” will feature reprints of stories from 2017’s hardcover “WildStorm: A Celebration of 25 Years,” as well as new segments penned by Rosenberg, Joshua Williamson, and many more. It will retail at 96 pages for $7.99 on November 29.

– “Batman/Spawn: The Classic Collection” will reprint 1994’s “Batman/Spawn: War Devil” (by Doug Moench, Chuck Dixon, Alan Grant, and Klaus Janson) and “Spawn/Batman” (by Frank Miller and Todd McFarlane) in hardcover on November 15, and retail for $19.99. It will arrive ahead of McFarlane and Capullo’s new crossover, releasing December 16.

WildStorm was founded by “WildC.A.T.s” creators Jim Lee and Brandon Choi at Image Comics in 1992. The company was acquired by DC in 1998, and remained independent until it was shut down by 2010, during which time Lee became co-publisher of DC. Although the characters from the WildStorm Universe became part of the DC Universe during the ‘New 52’ in 2011, this marks the first time the ‘Cats have headlined their own series since 2010.

These announcements follow yesterday’s news of the holiday special “DC’s Grifter Got Run Over by a Reindeer,” which will be released alongside these titles (and the 15 ’90s variants) this November. To check these all out, and some comments from the creators, head to DC.com.
