DC/Bernard Chang Sneak In The Best/Worst Joke Ever

If there is one thing DC has caught flack for, it’s their treatment of cats (something we’ve certainly written about), and that came to an obvious head in the case of Rise Of Arsenal #3 by JT Krul. Who can forget that now famous scene of Arsenal throttling a dead kitten that he may or may not have just used as a weapon and then mistaken for his dead daughter?

Well, in the latest issue of Supergirl, new artist Bernard Chang (who will return for regular duties with Nick Spencer in a couple issues) snuck in a little joke. In the current arc, we were introduced to Bizarro Supergirl, whose planet is being attacked by a giant godship. Bizarro World’s heroes unite to attempt to stop the foe, and beyond the Bizarro JLA we saw back when Geoff Johns was writing Action Comics, we now get to see the Bizarro versions of characters like Booster Gold, Firestorm, Mister Miracle, Barda, and Arsenal.

And what does Arsenal have in his quiver?

Dead kittens.

I see what you did there!!

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
