Tom Taylor’s acclaimed zombie story “DCeased” is continuing on in the three-part miniseries “DCeased: Unkillables.” Taylor will return to pen the series, which features art from Karl Mostert and Trevor Scott, who are working double time to fill the 48-page issues of “Unkillables.”
The series’ solicitation states “DCeased: Unkillables” will answer the question of what “the villains do when the heroes failed and the world ended.” The first issue, at least, will be a “street-level tale of death, heroism and redemption,” with Deathstroke and Red Hood navigating a world where the good guys lost, and only antiheroes like them are left to protect the survivors.
This will be the second spin-off to the mainline “DCeased” series, following on from “DCeased: A Good Day To Die” which gave a cosmic perspective on the grim world of “DCeased.” The one-shot followed Mister Miracle, Big Barda, Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, and John Constantine as they travelled to Apokolips and back in a battle against the end of the world. “Unkillables” looks to contrast starkly with “A Good Day To Die” and the Justice League-centric main series by focusing avidly on the small-scale elements to DC’s Armageddon.
Each issue will have a main cover by Howard Porter, a portrait cover by Francesco Mattina, and a horror movie inspired variant cover. “DCeased: Unkillables” releases February through April 2020.
