Over at Newsarama, the full solicits for DC Comics’ March 2015 releases are up, and it is a bloodbath. Not one, not two, but 15 series are releasing their final issue that month, including:
– The New 52: Future’s End
– Earth 2: World’s End
– Aquaman and the Others
– Klarion
– Secret Origins
– Star Spangled War Stories Featuring G.I. Zombie
– Infinity Man & the Forever People
– Trinity of Sin
– Worlds’ Finest
– Batman Eternal
– Arkham Manor
– Batwoman
– Green Lantern Corps
– Green Lantern: New Guardians
– Red Lanterns
– Swamp Thing
That’s a hell of a list, but besides a select few – “Worlds’ Finest”, “Batwoman”, “Green Lantern Corps” and “Swamp Thing, for four – it’s also a pretty reasonable culling of the herd before DC embraces the sweet, sweet touch of “Convergence”. As some have said (and said again, at previous dates), it appears that there will be a mini-reboot at DC in June post “Convergence”, and given the nature of the event and everything we know about it, it’s a pretty easy guess to make that something big is coming.
Whatever it ends up being, it appears DC will be using this as a time to at the very least rearrange the deck chairs and find better uses of their talent and property base than what we’ve seen in some of these releases (not to downplay the quality of “Klarion”, of course). We’ll see what’s coming our way in a couple months, but for now, expect some big changes coming out of “Convergence” in hopefully new and exciting ways. Look for more on these solicits tomorrow in Soliciting Multiversity, and stay safe, DC titles. Any one of you could be next to leave the New…36 or so.
