It’s certainly not a traditional one, but as seen in this week’s Brightest Day Aftermath: The Search For Swamp Thing #1, DC has cleverly snuck in a quick anti-smoking ad.
As seen here, John Constantine – DC’s new resident Brit and number one fan of smoking – attempts to light up a cigarette in Batman’s car. Batman responds by screaming at him and kicking him out of the car violently. Clearly this is yet another example of DC editorial forcing their writers and artists to put some kind of arbitrary edict into the comics. I mean, if Batman doesn’t like smoking, what kid would, right? There’s no way this could just be some kind of silly joke or anything.
The moral of the story? Smoking ruins the upholstery of the car, so don’t be rude to your friends. Just don’t smoke. Or Batman will kick you.
