DCU Online Delayed – But Beta Opens!

Well, you lose some, you win some, right?

Sony has announced that DCU Online will be delayed from November 2010 to first quarter 2011, citing “wanting to gain useful feedback from fans during the Beta testing period.” I suppose that’s fair. The game has been in it’s alpha stage for so long, even having a playful E3 demo (and I even reviewed it from 2009!).

But while DC has pushed the game away from us, they’ve offered a carrot: beginning October 11th, the DCU Online beta will be open! Anyone who has a VIP registration with the DCU Online website gets automatic beta opportunities, as well as anyone who has pre-ordered or will pre-order before November 15 (the original pre-order date). Anyone who pre-orders AFTER November 15 will also get beta access, the only for the week prior to the game’s release. Of course, you don’t have to pre-order at all if you don’t want to. You can always try for the free beta via DCU Online’s website – but that doesn’t guarantee you a slot in the beta, so the choice is yours.

I’ve registered for the beta, so if we both make it in, I guess I’ll see you kids in Metropolis!

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
