Some legendary teen sleuths are coming together for a classic comics team-up – just in time for one of them to die. Dynamite has announced the new monthly series “Nancy Drew & the Hardy Boys: The Death of Nancy Drew” from writer Anthony Del Col and artist Joe Eisma. Colorist Salvatore Aiala and letterer Crank! will join them for the series.

The story will open on the Hardy Boys at Nancy’s grave before following the twists and turns of their investigation into their friend’s apparent mysterious death. The series acts as a dark celebration of the 90th anniversary of the girl detective’s first appearance in the 1930 novel The Secret of the Old Clock.

“Over the years, there have been a lot of difficult mysteries to solve in the lives of Nancy Drew as well as the Hardy brothers,” said Del Col. “But I wanted to top them all, and so put together the ultimate case – solving Nancy’s death!” Del Col previously wrote Dynamite’s “Nancy Drew & The Hardy Boys: The Big Lie” in 2017.

The new series also follows the success of the Nancy Drew TV show, which was recently renewed for a second season over on the CW. Both Del Col and Eisma noted that the series should appeal to both new and old fans of the characters.

“With the TV series doing so well, the awareness for Nancy is at an all-time high,” said Nick Barrucci, Dynamite CEO and Publisher. “And we’re grateful to have Anthony Del Col come back to a new series, and working with Joe Eisma brings the perfect atmosphere to these crisp scripts!”

PREVIEWS World has the full story, alongside a first look at the series’ interiors. “Nancy Drew & The Hardy Boys: The Death of Nancy Drew” #1 hits shelves in April 2020.
