As revealed at Entertainment Weekly, we now know who will be playing arguably the biggest female lead in Marvel’s upcoming Daredevil show on Netflix.
Portraying Daredevil’s best known paramour outside of Elektra, Deborah Ann Woll of True Blood will be playing Karen Page in the upcoming series. Having been on True Blood since 2008, with appearances on 71 of the show’s 80 episode run, it’s a big transition to a huge lead from an already prominent actress working in television — and I can’t imagine it’ll be anything but a smooth transition.
With Charlie Cox set to play Matt Murdock, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin and Rosario Dawson in an unnamed role, Daredevil has continued Marvel’s penchant for rather excellent casting decisions. Deborah Ann Woll is a great addition to the cast, and the inclusion of Karen Page is promising indeed. Marvel certainly had less luck with the reaction to their first television outing than their films, but that hasn’t really curbed enthusiasm for the Daredevil show, which so far shows a lot of potential.
Daredevil will be released at some point next year, though no launch date has been set.
