In the run-up to the second expansion of Destiny 2, Warmind (due out May 8), Bungie have released a new webcomic of the same name. Written by David A. Rodriguez – the expansion’s narrative director – and Mark Waid, with art by Kris Anka and colorist Matthew Wilson, the free webcomic expands on the backstory of Anastasia Bray, the Guardian introduced in the trailer as the one who will be inviting players to investigate Hive activity on the frozen polar caps of Mars.

The comic follows in the wake of the two-part “Destiny: Fall of Osiris,” which similarly acted to set-up the game’s first expansion, Curse of Osiris. Written by Ryan North and Christine Thompson with art by Ze Carlos, the webcomic was the first piece of narrative storytelling in the Destiny universe outside the two games and their expansions. Destiny debuted in 2014, but until the release of “Fall of Osiris” in December of last year, the only print tie-ins for the franchise were in-universe lore books contained in various collectors’ editions.

“Warmind,” which can be read here, shows Bray and her Ghost on Mars during the events of Destiny 2 proper, and contending with Cabal Red Legion troops before she uncovers the titular Warmind – an ancient AI designed for managing military networks. Like “Fall of Osiris,” “Warmind” will likely conclude sometime next month. Stay tuned to Multiversity Comics for any and all possible reports of Destiny further expanding into the world of comics.
