Details for Snyder and Murphy’s “The Wake” Emerge

Earlier today at MTV Geek, the cover for “The Wake” #1, by Scott Snyder, Sean Gordon Murphy and Vertigo Comics, was revealed, along with a description of the series, and an announced arrival date of May 1st.

When Marine Biologist Lee Archer is approached by the Department of Homeland Security for help with a new threat, she declines, but quickly realizes they won’t take no for an answer. Soon she is plunging to the depths of the Arctic Circle to a secret, underwater oil rig where they’ve discovered something miraculous and terrifying…

Writer Scott Snyder and artist Sean Murphy bring their acclaimed talents to this sci-fi epic that explores the horrors of the deep, probes the origins of human history, and leaps far beyond to a frightening future.

A variant cover by Adam Kubert has also been announced.

We are big fans of both of these gentlemen, and the 10-issue series is one of the few projects Vertigo has put forth for 2013 thus far. We look forward to getting more details about the book as May gets closer.

Awesome. Lets hope it’s not the only announcement of the month from Snyder. Man of Steel (or whatever his Superman book will be called) has a high possibility of being announced as part of May’s solicits on Monday.

Agreed with Mayor. And while we’re at it, let’s hope DC make it a Vertigo one-two and solicit the first issue of Jeff Lemire’s Trillium they’re at it!

I read something (which now, of course, I can’t find/link to) that suggested a late 2013/early 2014 release for Trillium, based on Lemire having committed to another non-DC/Vertigo OGN before starting work on Trillium proper. Maybe I’m making that up?
