Spoilers for season 4 of Metalocalypse follow.

When last we saw Dethklok in season 4 of their show Metalocalypse, Toki was stabbed through the back by Magnus in an epic betrayal. The Church of the Black Klok assure Dethklok that he may still be alive, but we haven’t seen or heard from Dethklok or Metalocalypse in almost a year. (Well, aside from “Dethalbum III” in October, but shh.)

Well, as revealed via Twitter, Metalocalypse will be coming back with an hour-long special that consists of a metal opera entitled “The Doomstar Requiem.” The last season of Metalocalypse was pretty amazing, so I have high hopes for an hour-long metal opera, and with Venture Brothers coming back soon as well now is a good time for [adult swim] after a bit of a lull in their programming.

Whether this is the end cap of the show is unknown as of now. A lot of staple [adult swim] shows have been coming to a close, usually with a special (Moral Orel got one out of the blue, Delocated is all wrapped up as well), so it seems like this may be the last we see of the band’s animated adventures. At least they’re going out in the most metal way fucking possible, right?

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
