What’s the difference between justice and punishment? I’m not quite sure, but maybe this video will do something to explain that to you.
Premiering over the weekend at San Diego Comic Con, the above shortfilm finds Tom Jane reprising his role from the 2004 film as Frank Castle, man on the street out to punish the wicked. It’s violent, it’s bloody, and it is damn exciting for fans of the character.
What does it mean, though? Not too much. As Jane writes in the YouTube post,
I wanted to make a fan film for a character I’ve always loved and believed in – a love letter to Frank Castle & his fans. It was an incredible experience with everyone on the project throwing in their time just for the fun of it. It’s been a blast to be a part of from start to finish — we hope the friends of Frank enjoy watching it as much as we did making it.
So don’t go expecting another Punisher film any time soon.
2004’s The Punisher may not have been the bloody stoic rampage some wanted, but hey, Jane knows how to play the steely Frank Castle, no doubt about it. Now if only he’d finally finish making Homeless Dad.
