DK have announced that they will be publishing an anthology collection called “The Most Important Comic Book on Earth,” curated by filmmaker Paul Goodenough. It will feature 120 stories, created by a huge array of talent from different industries, including comic book writers Alan Moore and Marguerite Bennett, director Taika Waititi, actress Cara Delevingne, and more.

The stories will all focus on environmentalism in an effort to raise funds for Rewriting Extinction, an initiative to support seven conservation charities, including Greenpeace, The Wildlife Trusts, and Reserva: The Youth Land Trust. The first story to be produced for the collection was ‘Melody,’ by writer Kieron Gillen, artist Sean Phillips, Cara Delevingne and activist Cristabel Reed, which was released earlier this month.

Goodenough stated, “We are uniting the most important environmental voices on the planet: from indigenous people to activists, from storytellers to celebrities, and helping them collaborate to craft moving comic stories.” Mark Searle, DK’s Licensing Publishing Director, described the book as “an important and timely anthology,” explaining “having so many incredible voices and artists in one place, telling visual stories about planetary change, makes it entirely unique. It’s a privilege to publish this compelling read and a joy to be supporting some of the greatest environmental charities in the world with every copy sold.”

The Bookseller detailed that all of the author royalties that Goodenough earns through the book’s sales will be donated to Rewriting Extinction.

“The Most Important Comic Book on Earth” will be released in the UK on October 28, and in the US and Australia on November 2.
