Doc Savage TO BE CONCLUDED… Never?

Despite having plans to reach 18 issues, Doc Savage was of course one of the books that got wrapped up quickly in time for DC’s planned relaunch. What’s the problem with that then? Well, plain and simple: there was supposed to be one more issue. But since a line wide rebootlaunch is a line wide rebootlaunch, Doc Savage fans are left completely in the dust as of this month’s issue #17, which ended with a To Be Concluded instead of a The End.

We reported that DC was going to be cancelling the First Wave line back in February due to a rumor over at Bleeding Cool, so while we jumped the gun on that it still happened anyway. However, the book not getting to wrap up is an odd thing. It’s not the only one, obviously. Grant Morrison’s Batman Inc. had at least two more issues solicited, which will now be compiled into a one-shot. So what’s up with Doc Savage? According to a second-hand source (since I can’t find the first-hand source), it looks like there are plans to release a one-shot eventually to wrap-up the series, but that issue could theoretically come never given that the market for the Doc Savage comic was limited. It’s still a pretty bad situation for fans, though.

If you’re a Doc Savage fan, don’t fret – we’ll keep you updated as we find out more.

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
