Doctor Doom Cast for New Fantastic Four Film, and It’s Toby Kebbell

According to a report from Variety (which I’ve triple-checked to make sure it’s not an elaborate April Fool’s prank), Toby Kebbell has been cast as the villainous Doctor Doom in Fox’s upcoming reboot of the Fantastic Four film franchise.

Joining Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell, the article notes that this film will be based on “Ultimate Fantastic Four” as well, with plans to star younger versions of all the classic characters. This would very much make sense as “Ultimate Fantastic Four’s” first arc was co-written by Mark Millar (alongside Brian Bendis), who is helping to oversee all of Fox’s superhero film franchises.

Variety reports that a final deal has not been struck, but I should hope it is. Toby Kebbell is a rather fantastic actor, and while most sites list generically list what he’s been in, I’ll say this: in the first series of Black Mirror, Kebbell starred in the final episode, “The Entire History of You.” To this day, it remains one of the most haunting and terrifying things I’ve ever seen, remaining in my thoughts long after I’d seen it and still coming to the forefront of my mind whenever Kebbell’s name pops up. I would be more than happy to see him as Doctor Doom, let alone in anything in general.

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
