The comic will be written by former Doctor Who screenwriter Ben Aaronovitch, and Andrew Cartmel, who was script editor during McCoy’s tenure from 1987 to 1989, and penciled by Christopher Jones (“Doctor Who: The Third Doctor”) and colored by Marco Lesko (“”Doctor Who: The Ninth Doctor.”) Bleeding Cool also reports the comic will contain a back-up from “The Twelfth Doctor” writer Richard Dinnick with art by Jessica Martin, who actually acted opposite McCoy in the 1988 serial “The Greatest Show in the Galaxy.”
The Seventh Doctor is the latest Doctor from the show’s classic era to star in a Titan miniseries, following the Third, Fourth and Eighth Doctors. Titan have published ongoings starring all of the main Doctors introduced since the show’s revival in 2005, and are planning to relaunch them with “Doctor Who” #0 on Free Comic Book Day (May 5), on top of starting a comic for the new, Thirteenth Doctor this fall.
“Doctor Who: The Seventh Doctor” #1 is out in June. Head on over to io9 for a look at Jones’s artwork and variant covers by Will Brooks and Simon Myers. Be sure to let us know in the comments whether you’re excited for this creative reunion, and which classic Doctors you’d like to see in a comic soon.
