Just when you thought we knew who the lineup for Avengers: Age Of Ultron was, a new report coming in from HitFix is apparently confirming that Don Cheadle will be reprising his role as James Rhodes when the Avengers assemble once more. While the article doesn’t actually give any details about how Cheadle will factor into the new film (in fact, it doesn’t give any details about anything and just kind of waffles about the idea of recasting Iron Man for a bit), this would be a cool thing to see.
One of the biggest things coming out of the first film under the roar of how surprisingly well it all worked out was “Where the hell is War Machine?” Even to the point where Marvel published a prelude to Iron Man 3 explaining where he was during the Battle of New York. Now, with Cheadle looking set to suit up in the next film, could this be Marvel grooming him for a solo film in Phase Three? I’d like to think so, especially with Ales Kot writing an “Iron Patriot” book, but that might be just wishful thinking.
