Don’t Call It A Comeback: Comics Alliance Returns

Don’t call it a comeback. They’ve been here for years, rockin’ their peers and puttin’ suckas in fear, makin’ the tears rain down like a monsoon.

Announced earlier today (and, in classic Comics Alliance fashion, full of self-parody), Townsquare Media, which is owned by former president of AOL Media Bill Wilson, will be putting Comics Alliance and other sites AOL shut down recently back on the air to continue doing what they do. It seems that most if not all Comics Alliance staff will be returning (I haven’t heard of anyone not coming back) to continue business as usual, including but not limited to comics from the LBFA guys, articles pointing out everything wrong with the medium and how it effects you, analysis of Batman and reviews of old superhero movies you probably haven’t watched recently yourself. Among other things too, of course.

And just when people were starting to like us. Is it OK to be egotistical and slightly sarcastic when announcing the return of a site people read instead of this one and congratulating the staff on the continued opportunity to do their work? I hope so. We’re just sad our offer to buy the site for zero dollars was passed on. We offered great dental!

Ah well. The Comics Internet feels a little more familiar now, and hopefully this means That Comics Blogger will come back as well. (Although, generally speaking, I still prefer the Comics Journal’s version of Comics Alliance anyway.)

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
