Are you in the Pacific Northwest? Are you a fan of comics? Well then I hope to heck that you’ll be attending the festiest of comics festivals this weekend, as creators and crowds gather for Stumptown Comics Fest this Saturday and Sunday.

For those that do not know, Portland has become one of the comic epicenters of the country, as many highly esteemed creators reside there and a lot of publishers do as well (such as Top Shelf Comics, Oni Press, and Dark Horse Comics).

This festival highlights a who’s who of independent and beyond creators, as the special guests include people like Paul Pope, James Sturm (if you catch him surfing the web on his phone, knock it out of his hands!), Hope Larson, Mike Allred, Kurt Busiek, Dean Haspiel, Lucy Knisley, and the man, the myth, the legend Craig Thompson on Sunday only. Throw in a ton of lesser known but equally awesome folks like Emi Lenox, Natalie Nourigat, Jamie S. Rich, Joelle Jones, and Carla Speed McNeil, and you’ve got one heck of a fest for just $6 each day!

With the multitudes of other talented writers and artists that live there, I wouldn’t be surprised to see sightings from more mainstream folk like Brian Michael Bendis (he’s on one panel) or Matt Fraction there.

Don’t miss out, PNW readers – check out Stumptown Comics Fest this weekend!
