Dark Horse Press Release

With the New Year comes new ideas, and Dark Horse Comics is proud to announce an original title sure to stimulate the brain! Dotter of Her Father’s Eyes comes to Dark Horse as a graphic memoir looking to make waves.

With artwork by Bryan Talbot, recognized worldwide as one of the truly original voices in graphic fiction, and words from Mary Talbot, PhD, an internationally acclaimed scholar and author, there isn’t one reason why this book shouldn’t be in the hands of graphic memoir enthusiasts across the globe!

Part personal history, part biography, Dotter of Her Father’s Eyes contrasts two coming-of-age narratives: that of Lucia, the daughter of James Joyce, and that of author Mary Talbot, daughter of the eminent Joycean scholar James S. Atherton. Social expectations and gender politics, thwarted ambitions and personal tragedy are played out against two contrasting historical backgrounds, poignantly evoked by the atmospheric visual storytelling of award-winning graphic-novel pioneer Bryan Talbot.

Produced through an intense collaboration seldom seen between writers and artists, Dotter of Her Father’s Eyes is smart, funny, and sad–an essential addition to the evolving genre of graphic memoir.

Dotter of Her Father’s Eyes is on sale February 8, 2012.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
