Abrams Books have revealed the first images and creative team behind the graphic novel adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune. The comic will be written by notable Dune alums Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, with art by Raúl Allén and Patricia Martín, who collaborated on “Wonder Woman” and “Secret Weapons.”

Brian Herbert is the son of original author Frank Herbert, and alongside co-writer Kevin J. Anderson, has penned many notable texts set in the Dune universe, including The Battle of Corrin, House Atreides and Mentats of Dune.

“I am pleased to present this faithful graphic novel adaptation of my father’s masterpiece,” said Herbert. “This is the first time Dune has ever been published in this format and will introduce many new readers to Frank Herbert’s fantastic universe.”

The adaptation will be split into three separate graphic novels, the first of which arrives in October. The series will feature covers by “New Mutants” and “Moon Knight” artist Bill Sienkiewicz, which will form a triptych cover.

Dune will also be getting a film adaptation this year, directed by Blade Runner: 2049 director Denis Villeneuve and starring Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson and Oscar Isaac.

James Dowling

James Dowling is probably the last person on Earth who enjoyed the film Real Steel. He has other weird opinions about Hellboy, CHVRCHES, Squirrel Girl and the disappearance of Harold Holt. Follow him @James_Dow1ing on Twitter if you want to argue about Hugh Jackman's best film to date.
