This past weekend was Glasgow Comic Con, which we had mentioned last week when talking about how it would feature the debut of “Dungeon Fun” Book Two. In addition to that, though, the Scottish Independent Comic Book Alliance Awards were held, and wouldn’t you know it but some kind of massive clerical error occurred causing “Dungeon Fun” Book One to get a clean sweep victory in all the major categories: Best Comic or Graphic Novel, Best Writer, Best Artist and Best Cover.
It’s a truly great show of faith behind this little book that could, but it’s no surprise. As Vince Ostrowski wrote in his review of the book on the site:
A book like this could very easily go undiscovered, even though it truly shares a lot of the things that people look for in good solid storytelling. There’s something in here for everyone to like and it’s something you can share with the people in your life who don’t mind being silly once in a while. “Dungeon Fun” really is laugh-out loud and relentless about it.
So now, in celebration of this victory, “Dungeon Fun” is available to download for free for a work. If that’s not the definition of a steal, then I need to get a better dictionary. “Dungeon Fun” is a smart, warm and fun book, and I dare say that it has that universal appeal that so many things in this world lack.
I put my full weight and support behind this book, and have endeavored to do so in the past, sharing with readers of this site all kinds of content for the book. If you download the book during the next week and do not like it, please e-mail me and I will happily give you a refund for your money.

Dogooder Comics Press Release
Together with Dogooder Comics, Colin Bell and Neil Slorance made Scottish comics history as their all-ages title DUNGEON FUN Book One became the first ever comic in the Scottish Independent Comic Book Alliance Awards’ four-year existence to win all four of its public-voted awards.
Neil Slorance accepted the awards for Best Cover and Best Artist and Colin Bell scooped Best Writer, before the duo returned to the stage to collect the award for Best Comic or Graphic Novel.
“We’re thrilled and humbled,” said Colin Bell. “For Scotland’s comic readers to embrace an all-ages comic in this way is an incredibly encouraging sign not only to ourselves, but hopefully to children all over the country who may be prompted to pick up and start reading comics as a result. The SICBAs have fast become a well-respected champion for Scotland’s comic creators in a relatively short space of time, and tonight’s win is not a responsibility we take lightly. Neil and I are proud to be ambassadors for Scotland’s burgeoning comic scene for the coming year.”
To celebrate, Dogooder Comics is proud to announce that for the next week digital copies of DUNGEON FUN Book One will be free to download from Gumroad. “Winning the awards – especially amongst such talented competition from our peers and friends – was a perfect end to a year of hard work on the first issue of DUNGEON FUN,” said Neil Slorance. “But now we’re keen to show the rest of the world what the fuss is all about.”
DUNGEON FUN is an all-ages absurdist comedy fantasy adventure, which sees a young girl raised in a moat by trolls set off on quest when she encounters a cursed sword, and was named the 61st best comic of 2013 by Comic Book Resources in their annual “Top 100 Best of the Year” list. Book Two debuted at Glasgow Comic Con alongside new Dogooder title REEL LOVE, both to great acclaim. The following weekend sees DUNGEON FUN in the running for the Best British Comic (Colour) award at the inaugural True Believers Comic Awards at London Film and Comic Con on the 12th of July.

· “…hugely clever, stonkingly funny, gorgeously made and charming beyond belief. If you want to show somebody the best that comics has to offer – hand them ‘DUNGEON FUN.'” – Steve Morris, Comic Book Resources.
· “…perfect for young readers but, combined with a knowing and playful approach to the fantasy genre, makes for an equally entertaining read no matter the reader’s age.” – Hugh Armitage, Digital Spy
· “Colin, can I get a pullquote in your press release to tell people how much I like your book? Because I really like your book! … No? Fine, I’ll just edit one in when no one is looking, then. That’s how much I like your book.” – Matthew Meylikhov, Bearded Person
