While Grant Morrison may still be exploring the DC multiverse, he’s not alone.

Announced at this morning’s Meet the Co-Publishers panel at San Diego Comic-Con, DC’s Earth One line of graphic novels will see new installments with “Flash Earth One” from “Superman Earth One” writer J. Michael Straczynski and “Aquaman Earth One” from New 52 “Flash” writer/artist Francis Manapul. No artist was announced for “Flash Earth one”, but Lee mentioned that Manapul will be doing the art for “Aquaman”, saying “If anybody was ever born to draw Aquaman, it is Francis.” It’s not crazy to infer that Manapul will be both writer and artist for “Aquaman Earth One”.
Frankly, it’s nice to see DC doing more and more Elseworlds-type comics. Manapul has been silently crushing it at DC and it’s great to see him get his own spotlight. And while I don’t really agree with Straczynski’s, uh, anything when it comes to comics, the massive swell of popularity he’s earned from Sense8 can’t hurt this book’s reputation. Unless it turns out to be about Flash slowing down and walking across the country to find the real America. In which case I’m so out.
Both “Flash Earth One” and “Aquaman Earth One” are expected to drop in 2016. Keep checking Multiversity Comics for more news from San Diego Comic-Con, as well as all updates on DC’s upcoming titles.
