Image is certainly publishing the heck out of some great titles right now, and one creator whose work continually finds a comfortable home at Image is Joe Casey. Whether it’s his ongoing work in “Haunt”, “Godland” or “Butcher Baker”, or his original graphic novel work with “Doc Bizarre MD” and “Marijuanaman” (co-written with Ziggy Marley), Image is Casey-central — and we love it.
Of course, in addition to new work, Image has also been republishing old Casey work in nice deluxe hardcovers, such as “Officer Downe: The Bigger Better Bastard Edition” and the deluxe edition of “Codeflesh.” It looks like in addition to those, the re-colored “Nixon’s Pals” (announced in the back of the “Officer Downe” hardcover) and the re-published “Milkman Murders”(announced at Image Expo), it was announced today that his 2006 out of print AiT/PlanetLar graphic novel “Rock Bottom” with Charlie Adlard is coming back with a hardcover in 2012 from Image Comics.
The book, about a musician Thomas Dare who is slowly turning to stone, will contain extra material and a new Adlard cover, although unlike other re-printed Casey books it will not feature new pages or added color. It does, however, featurea a notably different style of Adlard’s work that most people are used to due to his work on the seminal ongoing series “the Walking Dead,” but Adlard fully believes his art stands the test of time with the piece (spoiler alert: it does) and it still features the wonderful and eccentric work of Casey’s that we all know and love.
