ECCC is now past us, and those of you who didn’t go are probably wondering: what happened? What news do we get out of it? Well, for your convenience, I’ve begun swooping around the internet, getting bits and pieces of what I can in order to share with you from all the various news outlets around the internet.

Our very own Brandon and David are returning from ECCC as we speak with a whole bucket of goodies, so be on the lookout through the rest of the week for various ECCC exclusives to just us at MC, including one that may both frighten and confuse me (if what they’re telling me in these e-mails is true).

So now let’s take a look at DC:

  • Dex-Starr is from Earth, and his origin will be revealed. Also, the upcoming New Guardians arc will feature the New Guardians adjusting to life on Earth. Your guess as to why is as good as mine, though I’d imagine it being due to the Entity residing inside Earth.
  • Geoff Johns will not be leaving the Green Lantern title any time soon, so don’t worry. He has new villains as well as the return of Cowgirl planned. He says that, unlike the current Green Lantern trilogy, his next plan is much longer than five years.
  • Larfleeze does in fact have an oath. It will be seen soon. Also, look forward to a Larfleeze Christmas Special.
  • There will be no Green Lantern Corps back-up feature, and no more Black Ops lanterns.
  • There may or may not be a Sinestro Corps War animated feature. Johns won’t answer directly!
  • Mark Waid and Geoff Johns are sneaky together. Waid approached the mic at one point and alluded to an obscure Lantern story from 1961 by John Broome in which Hal Jordan traveled to the 58th century. He also mentioned Barry Allen, even though Barry Allen had nothing to do with the story he was talking about. Waid asked if Hal would be once again traveling to the 58th century, to which Johns responded “yes.”
  • When Blackest Night ends, the characters who were deuptized for the various Lantern Corps will not remain Lantern Corps members, but will retain strong ties to their given Corps.
  • DC is more happy than sad that you were upset at the end of Cry For Justice when Lian died. Not in a mean way or anything, but just so you know. It’s important that Lian died, and they stand behind the book. Don’t expect a retcon punch.
  • DC is also planning a digital push, but can not reveal how yet.
  • Expect both a Batman Beyond and Superman Beyond reboot/relaunch/integration in the near future.
  • There may be a Green Lantern animated series.
  • There is a JSA/JLA crossover planned between Robinson and Willingham for JLA #44-45.
  • The JSA will return to Smallville soon.
  • Johns hopes to have his Earth-One graphic novels done soon, with two planned for this year with the Riddler as the main villain. Suck it, Joker fanatics!
  • James Robinson will be leaving Superman after War of the Supermen in order to write a new Shade The Changing Man series.
  • DC doesn’t seem too happy about Marvel telling retailers to rip up their books.
  • In regard to legacies: There are plans for the whole Marvel family soon, as well as Firestorm being a main character in Brightest Day.
  • Expect to hear something about All-Star Batman and Robin soon.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
