Eddie Berganza Leaves Superman/Batman With A Bang

Last week, we posted a teaser from DC that had us more confused than a double rainbow. DC promised that everything would be revealed this week, and today in the back of every DC comic, the answer was there: Eddie Berganza’s editorial run on Superman/Batman is ending with issue #75.

Eddie Berganza announced that his final issue would be marked with DC’s 75th anniversary and feature an all star cast of content. From the cover by Frank Quietly (seen here!), we get a lead story by Paul Levitz bringing the Legion into the book that’ll be illustrated by Jerry Ordway. Followed by that will be a section of 2 page strips. Curious as to the talent in those strips? Well, let me lay it down for you: Steve Seagle and Teddy Kristiansen, Billy Tucci and Peter Tomasi with Gene Ha, as well as Adam Hughes, David Finch, J.T. Krul, Francis Manapul, Duncan Rouleau, Jill Thompson, Michael Green with Mike Johnson and Rafael Albuquerque and Shane Davis. Holy cow!

But that’s not all! The selling point (for me, at least) is – and this is copied directly from Eddie B’s notes on the topic – “a wild take on a Lex Luthor and Joker teaming by Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo.” AW YEAH!

So the talent in this final issue sounds pretty intense. I recommend it already. Keep your eyes peeled for any and all extra news as we get it, fan folks!

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
